However, high throughput is often accompanied by greater energy consumption and shorter service life. In order to achieve economical, efficient and sustainable operation, the configuration of the membrane system should take into account factors such as flux, pressure drop, life and maintenance costs to achieve the best cost performance.


In addition, "frequent replacement means poor film quality" is another common misconception. In fact, the service life of the membrane is affected by many factors, including raw water quality, pretreatment effect, operating pressure, cleaning frequency, and so on. High-quality membrane products may need to be cleaned or replaced more frequently in the face of a complex water environment, but this precisely reflects its good pollution interception ability and adaptability. And inferior film even if the initial performance is good, long-term use may have rapid performance decay, irreversible pollution and other problems, but increase the overall operating costs.

Finally, the view that "membrane water treatment is only suitable for large-scale industrial applications" also needs to be revised. With the miniaturization and modular development of membrane technology, today's membrane water treatment equipment has been flexibly applied to household drinking water purification, small community water supply systems, agricultural irrigation and other fields, showing strong application potential and social value.
